Would I Eat It Again? ("the app," "we," "us") is a food journal for iPhone, published by David Vetan (Vetan FC Solutions LLC). There is no account to create, we do not run servers, and we do not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind. This policy explains exactly what the app handles and the two cases in which anything at all leaves your phone.
Everything you create is written to the app's own database on your device:
If you are signed in to iCloud, the app syncs your entries through Apple's CloudKit to the private database of your own iCloud account, so your journal follows your Apple ID to a new device. That copy belongs to you: it sits in your Apple account, not on any server operated by us, and we have no ability to read it. Apple's handling of it is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn it off at any time in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud, and the app will simply keep everything locally instead.
Bito is the app's food critic. By default he runs entirely on your device — the photo is analysed on the phone and no network request is made.
Settings also lets you paste in your own OpenAI API key. This is optional and off unless you deliberately add a key. While a key is present, taking a photo sends that photo directly from your phone to OpenAI's API to generate the critique. It does not pass through us, and we never see the photo or the key. Your key is held in the device Keychain, and OpenAI's use of what it receives is governed by OpenAI's privacy policy. Deleting the key in Settings stops this immediately and returns Bito to on-device analysis.
If you grant location access, it is used for one purpose only: to bias restaurant search results toward where you are, using Apple MapKit. Your position is used at the moment of the search and is not stored by the app, not attached to your entries, and never sent to us. Declining the permission leaves the rest of the app fully usable — place search still works by name.
The camera and photo library are used only to capture or pick the picture attached to an entry. Images stay in the app's storage (and in your own iCloud copy, if sync is on).
The optional evening reminder is scheduled locally on your device by iOS. There is no push server, and no notification content leaves the phone.
The app is a one-time paid purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never receive your payment details.
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Delete an individual entry from its detail screen. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device; if iCloud sync was on, remove the app's iCloud data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
